The end of summer means a back-to-school shopping spree with our annual Kids' Boutique. The JLT works directly with guidance counselors at Leon County elementary schools to identify children in need of essential school clothes and shoes. In partnership with local retailers, the JLT purchases back-to-school items for local children and provides each child with a backpack filled with school supplies.
The JLT hosted its annual Kids’ Boutique shopping event at Kohl’s on Apalachee Parkway on Aug. 7, just in time to help 122 local students start the school year off right! Working directly with guidance counselors at Leon County elementary schools, Kids’ Boutique identified children in need of school clothes and shoes. Then, with the help of local business partners such as Kohl’s Department Store, Polka Dot Express and Office Depot, JLT volunteers shopped for these essentials with the children and their families, and provided each child with a backpack filled with school supplies.
“The JLT has been holding the Kids’ Boutique event for many years and our members love working with the kids every year and sharing in their excitement,” said JLT President Cari Molinaro. “It is a joy to give back to our community and help provide these deserving children the confidence and tools needed to succeed in school. We thank our community and business partners for helping the JLT make this event so special for the children and their families.”
In addition, students and their families had the opportunity to walk through the JLT Health Fair, where students received a free eye exam, toothbrushes, toothpaste and vitamins from Walgreens. They also had the opportunity to meet McGruff the Crime Dog. Parents also received information from Healthy Kids, Florida Kidcare and Whole Child Leon.
